black dragon games

March 14th, 2010

I’m happy to announce that WSM will be joining the list of other simulation games at blackdragongames.

WSM joins a cast of mainly wrestling game simulations and they are looking to expand. I’m sure going to check out those sims. From what I understand they are freeware games developed much like WSM is i.e. a labour of love. They have a small active community there of 600 members. Its sure encouraging that WSM will be increasing its audience. I’m particularly looking for people who will test the game as its only 60% complete and my focus is on development. Extra pressure for me to crack on with the game then!. I’ve started this weekend with adding a home run animation.

Today I’ve been making a start on the editor. My roster is dated from 2004 and could do with an update. Hence an editor is required. Screenshots forthcoming once I make progress here. I’ll probably make use of the WPF datagrid here for the first time.

Sourcecode Repository

March 13th, 2010

I’ve set up a new code repository for World Series Manager on unfuddle.

I’ve got to say I’m very impressed with the service they deliver to far. I’ve set up a free project for now. Here they host either a Git or Subversion repository. I have chosen GIT. I’m familar with subversion in my current full time job and in my previous one. I’m not impressed with subversion however it is a huge improvement over no source code repository or visual source safe.

I’ve heard many a good word about GIT. I can too only say good things about it. I had some initial trouble setting up my repository locally and connecting to the hosted version on Unfuddle. Didn’t take me long to work out the kinks.

What I like most about my unfuddle account it the bug tracking. I can create tickets and associate them with my code changes. This is one thing I have missed since my days with visual studio team system. The ability to track changes to an individual bug is priceless in my opinion. It is a definite help to understand why certain code changes have been made which are not always obvious when reading the code.

Wonderful stuff!!

WSM Screencasts

March 13th, 2010

So I’ve finally settled in here in the states.

I’ve got some interesting good news about WSM but that shall be revealed a little later.

I’ve come across an excellent service called ScreenR. Here they record a 5 min maximum screencast, host it and announce it in your twitter feed. Best part of this is its free. I’m using this to record some of WSM in game. I’ve recently added a home run ball animation. Check out the screencast here: http://screenr.com/SNg

I shall be making more screencasts of WSM and will post them here shortly.

A little site I quickly got up and running for my parents business. They offer services to look after pets while your away, dog walking for example.

Sorry no more WSM news for the moment.
